Why convert an SVG?
SVG is the perfect master format for logos, icons and illustrations: it is small, editable and sharp at any size. But plenty of places still do not accept it. Social networks, marketplaces, email clients, office software and print shops often want PNG, JPG or PDF, and laser cutters and CNC machines often want DXF. This SVG converter gives you each of those at exactly the size you need.
Choosing a format
- PNG (transparent) – the best all-rounder for logos and graphics on websites, slides and documents. Keeps transparency and sharp edges.
- JPG – small files for photos and backgrounds; no transparency, so pick a background colour.
- WebP – modern format with smaller files than PNG; supported by all current browsers.
- PDF – for print and sharing. Choose the PDF type: Automatic (vector where possible), Vector (sharp at any zoom), or High-resolution image as a fallback for SVGs with effects some PDF readers render badly.
- DXF (laser / CNC) – outlines as closed polylines in millimetres for cutting software.
Getting the size right
Size by has three modes:
- Width in pixels – type the width you want (for example 2000 px); the height follows the SVG’s proportions. Use this for screens and web.
- Print size at DPI – the tool reads the physical size stored in the SVG (for example
width="100mm") or assumes 96 px per inch, and renders at your DPI. 300 DPI is standard for photo-quality print; 150 DPI is fine for posters viewed from a distance. - Scale – multiplies the SVG’s own size, e.g. 4× for a crisp high-density icon.
The status line shows the SVG’s dimensions in units and millimetres, so you know what “100%” means before converting.
Transparent or solid background
By default PNG and WebP keep transparent areas transparent. Tick Background colour and pick a colour to fill them – useful for JPG (which cannot be transparent), for platforms that show transparency as black, or for a printable sticker sheet.
SVG to PNG for different uses
| Use | Format | Suggested size |
|---|---|---|
| Website logo | PNG or WebP | 2× the displayed width (e.g. 400 px for a 200 px logo) |
| Social media profile | PNG | 1000 px square |
| Presentation slide | PNG | 2000 px wide |
| Printed flyer | PDF (vector) or PNG at 300 DPI | Physical size from the SVG |
| Laser or CNC | DXF | Millimetres from the SVG |
| Favicon | Use the Favicon Generator | 16 – 512 px |
SVG to DXF for laser cutting and CNC
The DXF export flattens curves into short straight segments and writes closed polylines, the most widely compatible representation. Units are millimetres, taken from the SVG’s physical size. Import into LightBurn, LaserGRBL, Inkscape, Fusion 360 or LibreCAD at 100% scale. If you are starting from a picture rather than an SVG, create the vector first with Image to SVG for Laser.
Pasting SVG code
Developers can paste SVG markup straight into the text box – handy for icons copied from an icon library or from a design tool’s “Copy as SVG”. The preview updates and you can export in any format.
Fixing common SVG problems
- Text renders in the wrong font. Fonts are not embedded in most SVGs. Convert text to paths in Illustrator (Create Outlines), Inkscape (Object to Path) or Figma (Outline stroke / Flatten) first.
- The image is blank. The SVG may reference external images or use CSS the browser blocks for security. Embed images in the SVG or export a simpler SVG.
- The size is tiny. The SVG has no physical size and a small viewBox. Use Width in pixels or Scale.
- Colours need changing. Recolour first with Recolor SVG.

Frequently asked questions
How do I convert SVG to PNG with a transparent background?
Choose PNG (transparent) and leave Background colour unticked. Transparent areas of the SVG stay transparent in the PNG.
What size should my PNG be?
For screens, use Width in pixels – 2000 px suits most uses. For printing, use Print size at DPI with 300 DPI; the tool uses the physical size stored in the SVG.
Is the PDF a real vector?
With Vector (sharp at any zoom) or Automatic, yes – paths stay as vectors. Use High-resolution image only if a printer or program has trouble with complex SVG features.
Can I make a DXF for laser cutting?
Yes. DXF (laser / CNC) converts the shapes to closed polylines in millimetres, which LightBurn, LaserGRBL, Fusion 360 and most CAD programs import.
Why does my SVG text look different?
If the SVG uses a font that is not installed on your device, the browser substitutes another one. Convert text to outlines in your design program before exporting the SVG.
Can I convert several SVGs at once?
This tool converts one SVG at a time so you can check each preview. It is fast, so converting a handful is quick.
Is my file uploaded?
No. Rendering happens in your browser using its built-in SVG engine.
